YNAB - You Need A Budget, is a great zero based budgeting software that actually tells you how much money you have left to spend in each category of your budget.
A great strategy that YNAB recommends is saving up a "buffer", basically a month's expenses, so that you can begin to live off last month's income. When you save enough to cover a month's expenses, you can begin to save your paychecks for the following month, and pay all your bills as soon as the month begins. No more waiting for payday to be able to go grocery shopping.
Each chart is a single page and will look exactly like what is pictured, but without the colored portion (that's for you to color in as you work toward your goal).
