We have a large farm and try to rescue at least one shelter animal a year. I set a $500 goal for adoption expenses (adoption fees and initial vetting) and use this to track my way toward that goal. When we reach it, we go adopt a new family member, and anything left in the fund gets donated to the shelter. It's a fun way to look forward to our next rescue and give a little back at the same time!
